Book 2 Post 2

Feel Good Productivity: How to Do More of What Matters to You , by Ali Abdaal.  This is my first self help book and I didn't know what to expect.  I have always stayed away from these books as I feel like they would only be bs motivation and that I would rather do other things with my time.  I went into this book with that exact mentality.  I feel like with enough motivation to do something you can just get it done, and you dont need books like this.  I have found this motivation from mainly stress and feeling that I need to do it.  I was wondering if this book would change this or give me a new perspective.   I really like what it had to say about mindset.  This was one of the big takeaways that I got from the book.  The fact that mindset is where productivity comes from.  This overall theme was perfectly summarized in the quote:  “With this mindset shift – from ‘have to’ to ‘choose to” I think that this mindset shift i...

To: Clark Hansen, CEO of AMDP From: Billy Nutt, Senior Research & Development Analyst and Employee of the Month  Date: March 5th, 2023  Subject: How to get Free Beer ___________________________________________________________________ I wanted to follow up on ou r last meeting regarding sustainable companies for the fund. We have a multitude of small-cap businesses, but a larger company with equal growth potential would balance out the portfolio.  Heineken is a large alcohol company based in Amsterdam.  It shows strong growth potential , a focus on the environment, and would be a strong investment for the fund. I will first go over the sustainability guidelines that are at the forefront of our firm.  Then give you a brief background and insight into where Heineken is headed. I will provide some expert commentary and round it off with an investment summary.   AMDP Investment Criteria I wanted to illuminate some of the investment criteria AMDP hol...

How the Week Organizes our Lives

This passage brings me back to high school as this idea of this cycle was very apparent.  Everything was very structured with school, job, extracurriculars, and sports. This was extremely repetitive as every week was the same.  Weekends were booked up with only a small semblance of free time, haunted by the week ahead where the cycle restarts.  Another interesting point that I got out of the article was really looking back and wondering why we have this week, made up by us, and only created to organize it.  It is very funny to me how our whole idea of how we organize our lives is from one person who decided that it should be based upon this way.  A year makes sense, but a week has no bearing or reason on why it is the way it is.  I also think that that a big proponent of the reason for the 7 day week is religion.  It is funny how much of our traditions are rooted in religion.  Religion used to play a larger role in peoples lives then it is n...

Book 2 Post 1

Feel Good Productivity: How to Do More of What Matters to You , by Ali Abdaal.  I looked into the author only to realize that he was the for most author on productivity.  After hearing this I thought that this books would be influential into understanding more about how I can improve.  It is often hard for me to read books that are fiction or sci fi.  I feel as though I am not learning anything and only wasting my time.   Whether it is watching something or reading something I have to feel like I am getting something out of it.  This book seems like something that I can learn and grow from. And hey, maybe by the end of the book I may be more productive in writing the post for this assignment. I hope to get a better understanding and method of being productive.  As of now I can be productive when I am stressed.  But there is also a cynical nature to it too where sometimes I have it within me and other times I dont.  I wan...
