Who you are matters
Describe where you come from
I am born and raised in Los Angeles. I grew up in Brentwood but now live in Westwood, which is a little too close to UCLA for comfort. I also went to Loyola which is only a few minute drive from USC.
Tell me where you're going
I am currently a Junior so I still have a year and a half at USC until I graduate. I also have an internship in Investment Banking and I hope to continue that into my future and see where that takes me.
Tell me how you plan to get there
I plan to get there by continuously taking my classes at USC and learning as much as I can before I enter the workforce. This is leading me to take a lot of finance classes this semester but also going forward which should help in my future career. I also plan to continue my path by doing extremely well in my internship, learning, and showing that I have the dedication, ability, and drive to succeed their expectations. I want to base my career and my path towards my goal upon preparation and dedication to my work which I believe will provide an excellent work product.
How are you LIKE your parents
I have a strong admiration for my parents as the accomplishments that they have achieved but also the people who they have become is something that I want to replicate in my life. I believe that I have their work ethic and understanding. I also believe that I have their humor and personality. It is often funny how people are shocked to see the same mannerisms that I share with my father. I believe I am so similar to my parents because of my appreciation and respect for them. This has made me try to emulate them from a young age and has molded me to be very similar to them.
How are you UNLIKE your parents
I am unlike my parents in the career path that I have chosen to pursue and also the interest that I hold. Neither of my parents are in finance but also neither of my parents have the passion for cars as I hold. I always find this funny as I am so similar to my parents in numerous ways except when it comes to my main interests and career paths which make up so much of a person. I often see people go into the same career path as their parents or have the same hobbies as their parents but that is unlike me.
Have you developed your own expectations for yourself, or if you were honest, would you say you're operating under someone else's expectations?
I have always been very hard on myself but I also want to make my parents proud. From a young age I have realized that if I want to get to the place that I want then I have to be very good at what I do and be nearly the best. This has lead me to work very hard to achieve and get to the top of my class. But I am content with this but not satisfied. Yes my parents want the best for me, and yes they have basic expectations of me but I think that I have taken this to a new level where I expect a lot of myself and demand that as well.
Who, other than a relative, serves as a model for you of someone who lives life with great passion and personal responsibility?
I think Elon Musk is a great person for this as his ability to not be content of where he is and continue to work on his passion. Not only is he smart but he also didn't stop when he sold paypal and had millions of dollars, but instead continued to chase his passion and work towards better and what people thought was impossible. I think this is very admirable and the drive that he has when he has so much but continues to push is something that I hope to emulate.
Connecting with the ANIMAL WORLD: What wild animal do you feel a special connection with, and why?
I feel a personal connection to a dog it has always been an animal that I was super close to growing up. I had a dog from when I was young up until a few years ago. Something about the connection with a dog, the mutual respect and love shared is something that I don't get with any other animal.
Connecting with the NATURE KINGDOMS: Describe a significant childhood encounter with a tree or plant.
My childhood home was next to a hillside so there was a lot of different plants around. One of them I remember had a very magical type element to it. Not necessarily in a positive way but in a way where there was a lot of mystery. It was an ivy tree type plant. And I was always curious about it as I always found so many interesting things in the dead leaves and it was so hard to go deep into this big bush like tree so it seemed like there was much more old things to discover at the bottom of this tree. This came to a head when my dad asked me to chop the whole bush down when I found so many items in there but also peeled back at the bush layer by layer making more and more way admonishing the bush.
