World We Dare to Imagine
Looking back at my personal and professional development I could not have done it without mentorship from others. Providing advice, helping me avoid mistakes, and directing me towards growth dramatically helped my self improvement and accelerated my career. This is something that I have realized at even a young age. Because of this I want the same for others. Especially those who do not have family members or friends who could provide this advice. This advice and help from a young age would frontload and save a lot of the stress and problems that might arise later on in life if the advice and mentorship was not given. This is the reason for starting the Bright Futures Mentorship Organization.
Our mission at this Non-Profit is to connect kids who do not have access to mentors in more poverty stricken areas with mentors. The purpose is to grow a relationship with your mentor, feel comfortable around them, and be able to trust them. The purpose is that after other people succeed there is a strong need to help others succeed and lift them up as well. This is a theme that I have seen a lot with wealthy and successful people. There is a strong want to help others. There isnt an ego or anything, they just see these younger kids as themselves when they were younger. These older people appreciate the mentorship that they have received and because of it they want to pay it back to the next kid.
This mentorship will have a huge affect on kids in the inner city. Circumstances shape a person. Growing up around violence and death desensitizes this. One of my past professors enlightened me to this revelation. He started an organization where they bring in professionals in different spheres into schools to talk to the kids about their jobs and inspire these kids. When he asked what these kids wanted to be when they grew up it all reflected jobs that they were familiar with. Because they never knew an accountant none of them wanted to be that. I want to thank Professor Braunegg for this insight.
With this organization we believe that at a young age we can inspire success in young kids minds and surround them with uplifting people who want to see their best and will help them achieve their best. In a time where single parent households are increasing, and there are more negative influences coming from the internet and society this will hopefully reverse this trend and change trajectories of lives. I have experienced the importance of mentorship when I was young and I hope to share this to as many people as possible. I believe that this is the best way to promote a better world and change peoples lives.
